Passmore Cleaning are a local company who offer a range of cleaning services in Cornwall. With 25+ cleaning staff operating on a multitude of sites each day, they carry out a variety of cleaning tasks from specialist deep cleans to commercial cleaning. Passmore Cleaning staff work in a wide range of work environments and it is mandatory for everyone in the company to be trained and qualified in health and safety.
Challenges
Using shared documents
Until joining CRAMS, Passmore Cleaning were already managing their health and safety documents online. However, they were using shared documents which soon became difficult to manage, and they needed to find a new way of working.
Managing a growing company
Business owner, Sharon, tells us that the company is growing fast. Each week Passmore Cleaning acquire new clients, so correlating their health and safety information had become a challenge for the team. All their managers are well-trained in health and safety practices but started to find that laying information out in a clear and presentable way was getting tricky, due to the complexity of their work and the sheer amount of sites and working environments.
Managing COSHH information
As they work with a variety of different cleaning products, managing safety data sheets is an important part of being health and safety compliant for Passmore Cleaning. This means having them up-to-date and available for all staff to easily view. This ensures everyone is well informed and fully trained prior to completing any tasks, especially those requiring cleaning chemicals. They already had all their safety data sheets on file, but now their employees can access them much more easily and really consolidate their training, going into each job fully confident in the chemicals they will be using.
The company is growing at a rapid rate! We are getting new clients and jobs weekly, so keeping up with and correlating all the health and safety information was a challenge.

What’s more, as the team expands to meet the needs of a growing company, it’s simple to set up new accounts and have everything ready for a new team member’s first day on the job.
Risk assessments in a heartbeat
When you’re doing up to 10 cleaning jobs in a day like Passmore are, you’ll find yourself completing a multitude of risk assessments. Now that they’re using CRAMS to manage their health and safety obligations, they find that they can build a library of relevant hazards and risks that can be used for similar jobs. Communications Manager, Katy, states that managing Passmore’s health and safety is now much quicker. As the business grows, this leaves them time to be doing what they do best – wowing their customers and getting that perfect clean!
