- Google Preferences (NID, Analytics/Performance) – This cookie allows your web browser to remember what your preferences are; it is used by Google to save what you like and what you do not. For example, it sets your preferred language such as English or Arabic. It is also exceptionally useful in other areas including font-size, font and other viewable elements of a page – whilst it will not prevent a page from loading, it may reduce your viewing experience and make it difficult to read or interact with in the correct manner.
- PHPSESSID (Session ID, Functionality) – A native method of tracking the current session through PHP, a server-side scripting language. If cookies are enabled then this methodology is used; otherwise the URL (address at the top of the page) is used instead. This cookie will be deleted once the session is closed, for example if you were to close your browser at this very moment then the cookie will be deleted until you revisit our website.
Management of cookies
Many modern browsers will allow you to manage them or customise the settings for cookie storage on your own, be it for the cookies expiry dates or to disable them altogether – although remember that this could cause some websites to behave in an odd manner.
